Big Bass Bonanza

Big Bass Bonanza is one of those games you reach for when you want something loud, cheerful, and undemanding. The whole thing revolves around casting into colorful water and reeling in fish, and the animation on a good catch is genuinely fun to watch. It runs smooth even on a mid-range phone and doesn't ask much of you beyond a few taps.

Control-wise it's about as simple as it gets, which is the point. You tap to cast, watch the little scene play out, and collect your fish. There's a rhythm to it that makes it a good pick for short breaks, and the sound design leans into that upbeat, splashy feel. We left it running for long sessions and the battery drain stayed reasonable, partly because the graphics are stylized rather than heavy.

It won't hold your attention the way a big RPG does, and that's fine — it's not trying to. As a quick, pleasant tap-and-relax game, it does exactly what it sets out to do. We came away liking the character of it more than we expected.
